NEA members insurance trust program

NEA Life Insurance Plan -- Underwritten by The Prudential Insurance Company of America, NEA Term Life Insurance provides up to $300,000 of affordable decreasing term insurance coverage for you, your spouse, and your dependents.

NEA AD&D Insurance Plan -- For $19 a year, NEA Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance covers you and your family 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, around the world and around the house. You cannot be turned down for this coverage -- up to $30,000 at home or away, and up to $130,000 while traveling on a public conveyance. Underwritten by The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

NEA Income Protection Plan -- Two companies (Washington National and American Fidelity) underwrite alternative income protection insurance plans for MEA/NEA Members Insurance Trust. You may choose a program from either company to help you protect your most valuable asset -- the ability to work and earn an income. Discounted prices are also available to those who contribute toward Social Security. Available to all association members actively working more than 20 hours per week in the field of education.

NEA DUES-TAB Insurance -- Valuable insurance coverage, free to you just for being a member. This insurance benefit is provided by the NEA Members Insurance Trust to all Active, Reserve, Staff, and Life members. Life members must be actively employed in education.

NEA Guaranteed Issue Life Plan -- This plan is offered exclusively to NEA-Retired members age 55 and over. Coverage is guaranteed with no medical exam required. This plan is underwritten by The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

NEA MemberCare Medicare Supplement Program -- You’ll find the prices on this program are lower than alternatives -- including AARP's! This self-insured program, offered to NEA members and their spouses by the NEA Members Insurance Trust, matches the standard A through J Medicare supplement plans, benefit-for-benefit. Plus, it offers you extra discount programs for drugs, dental, hearing and vision care that you won’t find on other Medicare supplement plans -- at no extra cost!

NEA Home Protection Plan -- This unique life insurance protection is designed for the years when you have the greatest financial responsibilities. It can provide your family with added coverage to pay for major financial obligations (mortgage, car loans, college tuition, etc.) without depleting their primary life insurance. This program also provides optional disability coverage. Underwritten by The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

NEA Level Premium Term Life Insurance Plan -- Get up to $25,000 of term life insurance protection with a premium (determined by your age) which stays the same from the time you are accepted until age 70. When you enroll, the NEA Members Insurance Trust will provide coverage free for the first six months. Underwritten by The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

Additional insurance programs

NEA MemberCare In-Hospital Plan -- This supplemental program provides you with cash to pay those extra expenses you incur while in the hospital. It can provide up to $120 per day in cash benefits paid directly to you to use as you see fit. If you are an NEA member under 70, you are guaranteed acceptance! Administered by Seabury and Smith of Washington, D.C.

NEA MemberCare Excess Major Medical Plan -- This supplemental program covers you for up to $2,000,000 in extraordinary medical expenses not covered by your current insurance -- or even if you have no other insurance. The cost of the plan is kept very low because of the high deductible options you have -- $35,000 of $50,000 (the deductible includes benefits paid by other insurance). The plan also offers some benefits for nursing home expenses incurred following a hospital confinement. Administered by Seabury and Smith of Washington, D.C.

NEA Homeowners Insurance -- NEA’s Homeowners Insurance gives you personal service, protection for personal property used at school, a deductible that decreases if no claims are made, inflation-proof protections, and endorsements that protect valuables. Member-only benefits are available. Underwritten by the Horace Mann Insurance Company.

NEA MemberCare Long-Term Care Plan -- Introduced in late 1996, the NEA's Long-Term Care Plan provides members with guaranteed flat premium rates for a choice of daily benefit options ($25 to $300 per day) to cover respite care and nursing home or home health care protection. No prior hospitalization is required. Members choose waiting periods from 0 to 100 days before benefits are payable and can elect lifetime benefits maximum ranging from $18,250 to "unlimited." Underwritten by National Health Administrators.

Financial service programs

NEA Credit Plan -- Tailored exclusively for NEA members, the NEA Credit Plan allows you to apply for an unsecured loan of $3,000 to $15,000 at low, preferred, fixed rates. Use the money for any purpose -- bill consolidation, tuition, or unforeseen expenses. And take up to six years to repay (depending on your loan amount). Administered by NationsBank.

NEA Credit Card Program -- The NEA School Days MasterCard and Premier Gold MasterCard cards have no annual fees and are custom tailored exclusively for NEA members. They offer flexibility, low annual percentage rates, grace periods, payment holidays, no liability for lost or stolen cards, and more. NEA credit cards also offer the worldwide prestige and convenience benefits you expect with a first-rate card: travel benefits, access checks, insurance coverage, exemplary customer service and more. These accounts are issued and administered by MBNA America Bank, N.A.

NEA Home Financing Program -- The NEA Home Financing Program offers a wide variety of home mortgages for purchasing a new home or refinancing an existing mortgage. Benefits include a $150 member refund after closing, fast loan decisions, free counseling service from mortgage experts, competitive rates and fees, alternatives to private mortgage insurance, free 60-day interest rate lock option, free prequalification analysis, free break-even analysis for refinancing, low down-payment options and more. Best of all, everything up until closing can be handled with a toll-free telephone call! Administered by Norwest.

Investment programs

NEA-Sponsored FDIC-Insured Money Market Account -- Starting with as little as $500, it’s easy to take advantage of higher interest rates, liquidity, liberal withdrawal options, and the safety of an NEA-Sponsored FDIC-Insured Money Market Account. This account is offered by MBNA America Bank, N.A.

NEA-Sponsored Gold-Certificate CD -- Created to give you higher interest rates, flexibility, and the safety you need, the NEA-Sponsored Gold Certificate CD offers one of the highest CD interest rates you can find anywhere in the nation. It is fully insured up to $100,000 per depositor by the FDIC and has terms ranging from six to 60 months and requires only a $1,000 minimum initial investment. Offered by MBNA America Bank, N.A.

NEA ValueBuilder Annuity -- Available since 1991, the ValueBuilder Annuity program offers more than a dozen fixed and variable cash management, bond, and stock investment options offered by nationally known fund administrators -- including Dreyfus, Fidelity, Nationwide, Neuberger and Berman, Strong, and Templeton. Administered and staffed by Nationwide Financial Services.
