Get ready to rally March 3!

Invest in the Dream
Rally for Public Education

Montanans from across the state will rally in support of adequate funding for K-12 schools and higher education on March 3, 11:00 a.m., at the Montana State Capitol.

Invest in the Dream: Rally for Public Education will bring people together from across the state. Some 1,500 parents, grandparents, educators, students, working people, and other citizens are expected to demonstrate their support for increasing the state€™s share of funding for public schools and universities.

MEA-MFT President Eric Feaver said, €œThere is a real groundswell of grassroots support for public education all across Montana. Parents and students as well as educators are frustrated with politicians who claim to support public education and then flee from the responsibility of funding it. Excuses don€™t cut it when we see the quality of our excellent schools and universities at risk.€

The rally, organized by MEA-MFT, will include speakers from K-12 schools and the university system, parents, students, and elected officials. While the subject is serious, the mood will be upbeat and positive.

€œEven though the focus is funding, we will also celebrate our excellent public schools and universities and pay tribute to their influence on the lives of our students, our state, and indeed, our nation,€ Feaver said. €œMontana€™s public education is top-notch. We will let legislators know we want to keep it that way.€

The event begins at 11 am in the beautifully renovated rotunda of the state capitol. Banners, music, videos, and signs will reflect the Invest in the Dream theme.

All MEA-MFT members are urged to attend the rally. If you can€™t attend, please call or write your legislators. Tell them IT€™S TIME to invest in public schools and higher education for Montana€™s kids and Montana€™s future!

For more information about the rally, please call Terry Minow, MEA-MFT, 442-2123, or e-mail tminow@mea-mft.org.
